This is insane…you cannot punish the entire region for the sin of a loner. Facebook and all books on the information superhighway should be open for all 24/7 and no government has any business in this domain. FB admins should impose ban on the insane users not the government in any region.

I can recall that past BNP govt once banned Star Movies and HBO one day and withdrew the ban on the next day. I am personally not any avid user of FB. But i do respect others’ freedom of expression. Numerous cartoon are being published everday redeculing the pary leaders in newspapers. Shouldn’t the govt ban those newspapers too? Then why FB only? I agree with Farid that it is done to isolate the main opposition party and keep a hold on the islamists. AL had also compormised with Jamat in 1995 and with Khelafat Majlis in 2007. All of these is “Politics”. Nothing to do with satire on party leaders or the prophet. Now we are eagerly waiting that when some common sense do come back to govt’s mind. They will understand how silly mistake they have made and they will free the FB.
